At Sumba Hospitality Foundation, learning doesn’t stop at closing the books. We strongly believe in the value of self-development, creativity, and experiment.
First Aid: CPR Training
Being in the hospitality industry requires more than serving guests. Sometimes guests require more assistance, so to meet our guests continued needs, our students are trained in First Aid and CPR. While we hope these skills are not needed, our students are prepared!
Experimenting at Maringi Spa
Now that Maringi Spa is open for business, our Spa students have been busy in their kitchenette brewing up some amazing herbal tonics (“Jamu”) to bring health and longevity to our guests . . . and the staff and students enjoyed a lovely sample of the “fruits of their labor” (translate “work”). Our Maringi Spa not only supplies an amazing offering of Spa treatments, but we also offer many health and wellness options for our guests, like these health-boosting tonics, body scrubs . . . and, of course, Balinese massages! As our students continue to gain knowledge of health and wellness, our services will broaden. We are so proud of how much our students have learned in such a short period of time.
Learning Computer Skills in Life Skills Class
In October, our students are learning and practicing how to use word processing software, including how to create organizational charts, restaurant menus, and others. Having essential computer skills is just one way we can prepare our students to be successful in their careers. These new skills are just one of the many areas covered in our Life Skills class. We aim to have graduate students with well-rounded educations to best prepare them for the future!
On the catwalk
Fully dawned in beautiful attire, our female students stunned staff and male students with a fabulous fashion show during our monthly birthday party. Not only are our students intelligent, hard-working, and determined, they are beautiful inside and out.
