Together with many friends of the foundation, we traveled to Sumba to attend the ceremony of laying the first stone of the school.
The Merapi priest read the ceremonial sacrifices and told us that the spirits are in support of the new owner and the construction of the school. The local community gathered on the land and welcomed us with dances and singing. Speeches were given by the local representative, the head of the village, Al Purwa, Inge, Dempta, and the Wakil Bupati. This positive day was ended by the Wakil Bupati laying down the symbolic first stone. The foundations of the first phase of the school are almost ready and the construction is expected to finish in 9 months.
