Dempta was born and raised in Sumba Barat Daya. She has been working with NGOs for over 20 years in a wide range of fields. She has experience with child protection policy and education monitoring services to measure the impact of training and logical framework analysis. Because she values the importance of education, Dempta went back to study at age 30 and graduated in 2014 from Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta with a degree in Sociology. We are lucky to have such an extraordinary woman filling such an important role in our foundation.

With her vast network of NGOs on Sumba, Dempta has been connecting the Sumba Hospitality Foundation from the beginning with her colleagues who are assisting us to organize the Assessment test and interview schedule for our recruitment process. She has also been facilitating meetings with government officials to inform them about our project and create awareness. Additionally, Dempta has set up “sosialisasi” meetings with local high schools and community leaders to foster understanding of the project.

As Headmistress and board member to the SHF, Dempta wants to improve the situation of children and young people in Sumba. She will be responsible for community relations and communication with government officials and supervise the overall well-being of students while maintaining positive school-family relations. As a role model coming from underprivileged backgrounds, she will be able to teach the students the necessary life skills and empowerment.
