John M. Daniels, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors
He has nearly four decades of international tourism experience covering international airlines, five star hotels, cruise lines operations, tourism consulting, conference and event management, and destination management. In 1984 he was one of the first operator to bring cruise passengers to Sumba.
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Michigan State University, John also holds the certification as a hotel administrator by examination from the American Hotel and Lodging Association. He is a frequent guest speaker at major tourism events and a guest lecturer at both undergraduate and graduate level programs at three international tourism academies.
Over the years, John has served as the chairman or director of a number of prestigious tourism stake holding organization in Indonesia and spearheaded fundraising efforts for, among others, the Ragunan Zoo in Jakarta and a foundation providing surgical care to Indonesian children. He is a recipient of the Adikarya Wisata Award – the highest award given by the Republic of Indonesia for service to tourism and the Karyakarana Pariwisata – a similar honor from the Province of Bali.
